A Novel Retina-based Human Identification Algorithm based on Geometrical Shape Features Using a Hierarchical Matching Structure

Nowadays, biometrics such as fingerprint, face, hand geometry, voice, iris and retinal are widely used in access control applications [1,2]. There are pros and cons to each one of the mentioned biometrics and their application depends on the required security level and limitations of the application. Among the biometrics, the retinal blood vessel patterns provide a more reliable and secure biometric identifier because of its location in the back of the eye globe and its robustness against deceits while it is not accessible [3].
