In conclusion, RYGB surgery decreased body weight in both WT and α-gust–/– mice. Elevated plasma GLP1 and PYY levels might mediate this effect, although α-gustducin differentially affects several regulatory systems in the foregut and hindgut, tuning gut hormone release.
