ECG artifact cancellation in surface EMG signals by fractional order calculus application

Researchers have been developing advanced surface electromyography (sEMG) applications for decades [1]. In particular, adequate methods for sEMG registration and analysis are crucial for assessment of various neuromuscular pathologies [1, 2]. Despite its wide application, sEMG based assessment might be limited due to inappropriate artifact cancellation [3]. E. g., sEMG recordings of trunk muscles are contaminated by electrocardiography (ECG) interference as a consequence of heart proximity. Various methods for ECG artifact cancellation have been proposed [4 –11].
