Serum uromodulin concentrations correlate with glomerular filtration rate in patients with chronic kidney disease.

CONCLUSIONS    Serum UMOD concentrations are closely correlated with the recommended measure of renal function, i.e. eGFR. As uromodulin is exclusively produced by renal tubular cells, sUMOD assessment in CKD patients may be an alternative to eGFR method to evaluate the number of functioning nephrons.
