Increased demand for specialty and orphan drugs drives growth of Infusion

Infusion, part of Ashfield Healthcare Communications, recently moved its corporate office from rural Haddam, Connecticut to the more urban Middletown, Connecticut to better address the company’s continuing expansion. Infusion develops medical communications for its small to mid-sized pharmaceutical and biotech clients, many of whom are focusing on rare diseases. The pharmaceutical industry’s movement into specialty and orphan drugs has created increased demand for appropriate scientific and creative talent to translate the underlying science into relevant and powerful scientific communications for healthcare providers. By locating in Middletown, home to Wesleyan University and within easy access of Yale and New York City, Infusion will draw upon a more robust scientific and creative talent pool. Infusion, founded 10 years ago in East Haddam, CT, has grown over the years from its initial employee base of four to the 45 employed by the company today. Most of this headcount works in the Connecticut office, with a few employees working remotely in Chicago, New York, Michigan and Tennessee.
