Graphitization of Activated Carbons: A Molecular-level Investigation by INS, DRIFT, XRD and Raman Techniques

Publication date: 2016 Source:Physics Procedia, Volume 85 Author(s): Andrea Lazzarini, Andrea Piovano, Riccardo Pellegrini, Giovanni Agostini, Svemir Rudić, Carlo Lamberti, Elena Groppo The effect of a graphitization treatment on the phyisico-chemical properties of an activated carbon have been studied by means of multi-technical approach. Inelastic neutron scattering and DRIFT spectroscopy revealed the modifications occurring at the material borders, involving H-containing species and O-containing functional groups. Information on the structural modifications were obtained by means of Raman spectroscopy and X-Ray Powder Diffraction.
