Confronting Global Chronic Disease

Schools of public health were founded exactly 100  years ago in response to the Rockefeller Commission's Welch-Rose Report, which called for creation of new academic institutions that would be responsible for developing the science and evidence base as to how to keep populations healthy and prevent disease, disability, and injury; educate the futu re leaders and practitioners in the field; and work in partnership with policy and practice sectors to translate the evidence into advances in health for all [1].
