“I could achieve much more with a personal trainer that understands the effects of chemo and radiation than I was ever going to do on my own.” – Sam S.Sam, along with 41,000 other cancer survivors, have participated inLIVESTRONG at the YMCA since the program ’s inception in 2007. After treatment, cancer survivors and their loved ones are often forced to find their new normal … and many are forced to do it on their own. This is where LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a 12-week physical activity program designed to get survivors back on their feet, comes in. The group class of 8-12 survivors is taught by certified fitness instructors who are highly trained in cancer survivorship, post-rehabilitation exercise and supportive cancer care.Eli Lilly and Company or Lilly has been a valuable partner to LIVESTRONG in support of LIVESTRONG at the YMCA and the participants that go through the program. In 2016 with a goal of increasing awareness of the program to cancer survivors and their care teams, Eli Lilly and Company is activating their national oncology sales staff to promote the program to key accounts across the country. Additionally, in 2015, Eli Lilly and Company partnered with LIVESTRONG to pilot a text to connect program at select YMCA locations.
