Diagnostic Challenge

An approximately 22-year-old male eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus) which was a resident at Acadia Animal Medical Center, was presented to the LSU – School of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Teaching Hospital with an approximately one week history of lethargy, ataxia, and anorexia. The parrot was a lifelong resident of Acadia Animal Medical Center and had been fed a commercial pelleted diet and had received appropriate husbandry throughout it s life. The parrot had no significant medical history prior to the observation of the presenting clinical signs by the office staff.
