Quantification of the first-order high-pass filter's influence on the automatic measurements of the electrocardiogram

This study shows a correlation relationship between the QRS integral (the main ECG signal part) and the ST-segment deviation (used for interpretation of acute myocardial infarction). We show significant differences between AC- and DC-coupled ECG recorded signals. As the work is based on clinical digital ECG records stored in raw format, the impact of this study for clinicians interpreting the ECG as well as technicians programming signal processing algorithms and expert systems performing the current automatic measurement and interpretation software is not negligible as believed today.
