Alcohol Research UK publishes its Annual Review for 2015/16

Alcohol Research UK has today (10 November 2016) published its Annual Review 2015/16 outlining its main programmes of work for the period. The report shows that in 2015/16, Alcohol Research UK: Commissioned a major independent review of its grant making over the last 30 years which shows the many ways in which its £24 million investment in alcohol research has helped to shape the alcohol harm reduction field. Completed a major review of its Research Strategy to ensure it continues to deliver rigorous research that strengthens the evidence base and has a demonstrable impact on knowledge, policy and practice. Awarded almost £584,000 in grants, including over £289,000 to five projects within its Research Innovation grants programme. Funded six small projects providing a unique opportunity for both early career and established researchers to develop their work. Provided network support to 12 professionals within the wider research community. Granted 17 studentships, including funding support for six new PhDs. Provided independent and expert management of a diverse range of research projects on behalf of other organisations such as Public Health England. Maintained its core funding of both Alcohol Policy UK and Drug and Alcohol Findings, two organisations whose work supports its core aim of translating research into policy and practice.
