Tmod-34. reactive astrocytes potentiate tumor aggressiveness in a murine glioma resection and recurrence model
CONCLUSIONS:This study demonstrates that peri-tumoral astrocytes undergo temporal and spatial changes after surgical tumor resection, and that surgery-induced changes influence the aggressiveness of residual tumor. Gaining a better understanding of the post-surgical microenvironment will allow optimization of therapeutic strategies and facilitate the development of new approaches that ameliorate surgery-mediated effects on recurrent tumors.
