If not me, then who?

As I struggled to write my first column, I was flooded with ideas, but none seemed to coalesce. I thought about introducing myself or relating the column to the New Year and writing about new beginnings, new semesters, and my new role or talking about what I might learn from all of you —which is a lot! As you know, when you write, sometimes nothing seems to “click.” But then, I was watching a program on television about the difficulty women have in talking about themselves or sharing their expert qualifications for assuming a new role.
