EEG epochs with less alpha rhythm improve discrimination of mild alzheimer's

• This is the first resting-state awake Alzheimer's Disease (AD) EEG study reporting the influence of Alpha Rhythm (AR) on epoch selection.• We suggest herein a detailed epoch selection method and we compare EEG epochs with more and with less AR of AD patients and healthy elderly controls.• Th e main finding was that EEG epochs with less occipital alpha activity are much better to discriminate mild AD patients from controls.
