Foreword

The utilization of anti-platelet therapy, such as aspirin alone, or in combination with other anti-platelet agents (P2Y2 inhibitors) is considered to be state of the art of medical treatment for patients with coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes in oreder to reduce ischemic events. Concomitant treatment with proton pump inhibitors in order to prevent gastrointestinal side effects of these agents is also recommended by clinical guidelines.
