Assessment of retinol-binding protein 4 in patients with alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia

Conclusion: The level of RBP4 was found to be increased in serum of both AA and androgenetic alopecia patients. The role of RBP4 may be as a nonspecific molecule leading to hair loss or miniaturization through controlling hair cycle. However, the exact role of RBP4 in the hair cycle and its clinical significance in treatment of AA remains to be elucidated.
