Tough Mudder Round Two: Ryan Larson

The Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course that tests your physical strength, mental power, and stamina. You can do it to challenge yourself or run for a charity at the same time if you choose to. One of our Team LIVESTRONG members, Ryan Larson, who’s participated in the Tough Mudder two years in a row will be answering a few of our questions here. We’ll also be hearing some of his story and why he decided to become involved with LIVESTRONG.LS:  How have you been affected by cancer? Ryan:  I was born to a single mother who was greatly supported by her parents in helping to raise me. My grandparents served as parental figures in my younger years, showering me with love as compensation for the absence of a cohesive parental unit.My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer when I was 7 years old and passed within several short months. My family has learned to move forward by taking the most important lesson she taught us, servant leadership despite your circumstances. This has deeply impacted my life, and steered me to look for ways to serve others based on her example.LS:Why did you choose to join Team LIVESTRONG? Ryan:  I’ve always believed that advocacy and fundraising in support of great missions is admirable. However, I often found myself frustrated by the lack of the next step.
