Kidney Transplant: Non-Simultaneous Extended Altruistic-Donor Chain

As a result of donation of one kidney from a healthy donor to a complete stranger in 2006, the first non-simultaneous, extended altruistic-donor (NEAD) chain was created. The physicians involved now have sophisticated computer programs to help them match possible recipients to willing donors. The idea was to come up with an exchange list for people who had willing, but incompatible donors.
