Gene expression related to serotonergic and glutamatergic neurotransmission is altered in the Flinders Sensitive Line rat model of depression: Effect of ketamine

This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Using real‐time qPCR, we show that the genetic animal model of depression Flinders Sensitive Line rats display serotonergic and glutamatergic abnormalities on gene expression level that partly may resemble findings in depressed patients. Gene expression related to these neurotransmitter systems was unaffected by ketamine, which has unique antidepressant properties.
