Stenosis in Middle Cerebral Artery Duplication: Assessment With Transcranial Color-Coded Duplex Sonography

We report 2 patients with duplication of the middle cerebral artery in whom stenosis of one of its branches led to ischemic stroke and describe the sonographic findings in comparison to other neuroimaging modalities. These cases highlight the utility of adding a coronal insonation plane on top of the traditional axial plane to avoid identification pitfalls in patients with anatomic variants.
