Predictive factors of acute kidney injury in patients undergoing rectal surgery

Conclusion Despite advances in surgical techniques, the incidence of postoperative AKI remains unchanged and is associated with poor outcome. Underlying CKD, diabetes, intraoperative shock, and postoperative ileus are strongly associated with development of AKI. High-risk patients should be carefully monitored for development of postoperative AKI, regardless of surgical approach.
