Deaf Movie Fans Sue Celebration! Cinemas For Discrimination

Grand Rapids, MI – Graham Forsey, a deaf individual residing in St. Joseph, and the NAD filed suit on August 15, 2016, against Loeks Theater, Inc. for discriminating against deaf movie goers by failing to provide captioning on the movies it shows.Forsey and the NAD charge that Loeks Theater, Inc., which owns and operates Celebration! Cinemas, refuses to display captions on any of the movies showing at its Benton Harbor location. Without captions, theater patrons who are deaf and hard of hearing cannot understand the movie dialogue or soundtrack.read more
