Zika virus is arriving at the American continent

However, due to its neurotropism, it causes microcephaly and is associated with GBS. Presence of Aedes aegypti in many regions of Peru makes it easier to spread and it could be present in population, not being detected because there is a lack of rapid diagnosis methods. It is important to make a quick, effective and combined response to this new threat.
