Rectal temps at admission in rabbits

Homeotherms maintain a constant body temperature despite variations in their thermal environment. This process is critical, because decreases in core body temperature influence almost every organ system, including the cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, digestive, and urinary systems. Body temperature control may have a therapeutic role, as there is some evidence that prompt correction of hypothermia may decrease mortality risk in human patients.
