Exogenous spermine inhibits hypoxia/ischemia-induced myocardial apoptosis via regulation of mitochondrial permeability transition pore and associated pathways
In conclusion, H/I decreased endogenous spermine concentrations in cardiomyocytes, which ultimately induced apoptosis. The addition of exogenous spermine effectively prevented myocyte cell death.
