Diagnostic challenge

A 1-year-old, male, veiled chameleon (Chamaeleo calyptratus) was presented with a mass on the left side of his mouth that was first noticed developing approximately two weeks prior to the hospital visit (Fig. 1). Review of the animal ′s husbandry indicated no significant concerns. On physical exam the chameleon was quiet, alert, and responsive. The patient had a thin body condition and weighed 159 grams. The mass was located 5 mm rostral to the commissure of the mandible and maxilla and measured 7 mm in length and 6 mm in widt h.
