Since the dissolution of the former Soviet Union (fSU) in 1991, some former member countries and satellite states have fared better than others in terms of ischemic heart disease (IHD). The Global Burden of Disease 2013 Study compared standardized data on IHD mortality and disability adjusted-life years (DALYs) and ranking of IHD risk factors across fSU countries and their regions (Central Asia, Central Europe and Eastern Europe) in 1990 and 2013.
