PS016 The Universal Health: Health Services Role in Prevention of CVDS

Americas Region has recognized the Universal Health Coverage as a key element in reducing social inequality and a critical component of sustainable development and poverty reduction. In most low- and middle-income countries health systems are evolving, but often the focus is on hospital centered models of care, struggling with growing burden of costs of CVDs health services. Facing this problem in 2014 the Americas countries have endorsed the Strategy for universal access to health and universal health coverage (CD53.R14) and the concept of Universal Health as access and coverage for all.
