PS096 Control of Renal Parameters Essential in Improving Heart Failure Prognosis
Despite recent advances in disease management, heart failure still remains amongst the most lethal medical conditions, with 6 –12 months mortality and re-hospitalization rates of 9–15% and 30–45%, respectively. Among potential factors that contribute to this poor prognosis is the presence of comorbidities; one such major comorbidity being acute renal failure. This organ interaction, termed as the cardio-renal syndrom e (CRS), is a complex phenomenon in which malfunction of one organ consequently leads to mpairment of the other.
