PS119 The Failing Endocrine Heart: Congestive Symptomatology

Traditionally,heart failure(HF) has been considered as failure in contractile function or cardiac output. Recently, the endocrine function of the heart, with natriuretic peptides(NP) regulating intravascular volume, has been recognised,opening the possibility to consider endocrine failure as an aspect concomitant to or independent of contractile capacity.The ability to separately assess endocrine and contractile failure in clinical practice in a non-invasive fashion could improve patient care.
