PS273 Cardiac Echinococcosis, Clinical Presentation, Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment

Echinococcosis is an extremely rare disease caused by the larval cestode Echinococcus granulosus. Dogs are the definitive hosts for E. granulosus, and sheep are the major intermediate hosts, humans are only accidental hosts when they ingest food or water that is fecally contaminated with eggs. Cardiac hydatid cysts are found in fewer than 3% of cases of hydatidosis. In clinical presentation of cardiac echinococcosis (CE) there is no pathognomonic sign.
