Increased percentage of Th17 cells in peritoneal fluid is associated with severity of endometriosis

Endometriosis is a multi-symptomatic condition characterized by the presence of tissue that is histologically similar to the endometrium, but located outside the uterine cavity (Braun and Dmowski, 1998; Osuga, 2008). Endometriosis mostly affects women of reproductive age, who suffer from dysmenorrhea and unexplained pelvic pain (Osuga, 2008; Koninckx et al., 2012). To establish clinical advancement of endometriosis the ASRM classification was applied. It is assumed that endometriosis is a progressive disease; thus, the ASRM scoring assessment of pathology is widely accepted even though it does not reflect the dynamics of the disease.
