A methodology based on openEHR archetypes and software agents for developing e-health applications reusing legacy systems

In most countries, the conventional healthcare model will soon become inadequate, due to the increasing healthcare costs for the growing population of elderly people, the rapid increase in chronic disease, the growing demand for new treatments and technologies, and the decrease in the number of health professionals relative to the population increase [1]. Recently, the United States Census Bureau estimated that the expected number of inhabitants in the United States older than 65 will be approximately 70 million in 2030, twice that in 2000 [2].
