The purpose of this study was to determine effectiveness of unfolding case studies on associate degree in nursing students' level of knowledge and critical thinking skills. A quasi-experimental, pretest, posttest comparison design was used to determine if a difference existed between the experimental and control groups. Both groups performed worse on the posttest than on the pretest. Therefore, additional research is needed to determine the effectiveness of unfolding case studies as a best practice in nursing education.
