Long ‐delayed mental health reform bill passes unanimously out of committee

Noting that much more work still lies ahead, House Energy and Commerce Committee members, by a unanimous vote of 53–0 on June 15, have finally advanced mental health reform legislation that eliminates many prior controversial provisions, including those involving the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMD) exclusion.
