Five Boros with Team LIVESTRONG

This past Sunday, over 32,000 riders from all over the world descended upon New York City to take part in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. Team LIVESTRONG was represented by 30 riders who collectively fundraised over $30,000 for the foundation’s cancer support services. The team kicked off the weekend by meeting up for a happy hour on Friday evening. It was a great opportunity for the team to get to know each other and share their connection to the foundation’s mission. One of our teammates spoke about his participation in the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program after he was declared cancer free. He was proud to share that he was in the best shape of his life because of the program. On Saturday morning, we all met at Battery Park for a team ride. The ride was led by NYC resident and 16-year fundraiser, Dr. Michael Wolf. We started on the Hudson River Greenway, made our way over the Brooklyn Bridge into Prospect Park, and then rode onwards to Coney Island. It turned out to be a beautiful day and we enjoyed lunch on the boardwalk at Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs. We all knew the next day would bring cold rain so we truly lived in the moment. Afterwards, we made our way to the Bike New York Expo at Basketball City to pick up our ride packets. The expo is a bike lover’s dream. It’s by far one of the best bike expos I have attended and Bike NY does a great job of having a wide variety of vendors and getting people through the lines quickly.
