Pushing the pause button and being thankful

With the Thanksgiving Holiday fast approaching, I wanted to take a moment to let my readers know how much I have appreciated your patronage of HealthBlog over the years. I’ve been writing this blog since October of 2005 when my then manager here at Microsoft suggested that a blog might be a good way to communicate with clinicians, healthcare executives and IT professionals. Having had an extensive career working as a physician broadcaster in the television industry (for local, cable and network broadcasting companies) I first thought blogging might be a waste of time. I was used to communicating with millions of viewers. “Who”, I thought, “would read a blog?” Indeed, it took some time to build an audience, but today HealthBlog is read by tens of thousands of loyal readers around the world and is frequently listed among the top blogs serving the Health IT Industry. Writing this blog and being in touch with so many of you, who like me, have a passion for information technology in health and healthcare, has been truly uplifting. So, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for your readership. It is truly an honor to be able to share this platform with you. Having said that, I want you to know that I will be pushing the pause button during the remaining days of November.
