Progress in Pediatric Cardiology

Cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) includes the disorders of the heart and kidneys where “acute or chronic dysfunction in one organ may induce acute or chronic dysfunction of the other” (Ronco, C.; McCullough, S.D. (2010). "Cardio-renal syndromes: Reports from the consensus conference of the acute dialysis quality initiative". European Heart Journal 31 (6): 703–711.). There are 5 types of CRS, with type 1 and type 3 being acute, and type 2 and 4 being chronic. Type 2 involves progressive chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with chronic abnormalities in heart function.
