Cellular zinc is required for intestinal epithelial barrier maintenance via the regulation of claudin-3 and occludin expression
This study shows that intracellular zinc has an essential role in the maintenance of the intestinal epithelial TJ barrier through regulation of occludin proteolysis and claudin-3 transcription.
