International Health Regulations and Emergency Committees

The International Health Regulations, or IHR (2005), represent an agreement between 196 WHO Member States and Parties to work together for global health security. Through the IHR, countries have agreed to build their capacities to detect, assess and report public health risks and emergencies that can have devastating impacts on human health and economies. The Emergency Committee is made up of international experts to provide technical advice to the WHO Director-General.
