Clinical pearls in psychiatry

A 26-year-old patient comes to see you in follow-up for an emergency department visit for chest pain. This came on while she was driving and was experienced as an abrupt onset of a pounding heart, a sense she was choking and could not catch her breath, and a fear she would die. She pulled her car over and called emergency services from her car and was transported by ambulance to the emergency department. By that point, symptoms had improved. Blood pressure was 118/70, pulse was 70. ECG showed normal sinus rhythm.
