Weight control planning – Day 1/7 #weightcontrol
Friends and colleagues still ask me how I lost weight and maintained my new weight. I have some short answers, but after careful consideration, I realized that my planning is somewhat complex. Therefore, I decided to illustrate a week’s worth of my planning process and what I really do.
The planning for today and this week started a couple of days ago. Each day and each week I plan two things – exercise and eating. Let’s consider exercise first.
Sundays are usually a golf day. Golf provides modest exercise, and some golf days do not have additional strenuous exercise. I originally planned to attend an Orange Theory workout after golf. Then the weather forecast suggested strongly that rain would interfere with golf. So I changed my workout time to an early time.
I have already planned my workouts for the remainder of the week, with a backup plan for each day.
The key here is scheduling one’s exercise. Some weeks afternoons are better, but this week mornings will work best. I am already thinking about the following week, which will probably be an afternoon workout week.
Food has more complexity. For me the key involves considering each day as a whole. For example, last night I knew that I would eat a lot at a party. So I worked to eat a bit less during the day. Tonight I will eat light, so I made lunch the main meal of the day.
