Integration and Meaningful Use: Customer Survey Results

The survey results indicate a preference for provider facilities to utilize an integration engine for Meaningful Use objectives illustrated in the above graph. Three-quarters of the respondents indicated that they are using the integration engine when returning electronic results to a physician. This is a new menu objective for eligible hospitals in Meaningful Use Stage 2. The criteria states that eligible hospitals must provide structured electronic lab results to eligible professionals more than 20% of the time. Interesting note: In a 2013 Health Affairs report, titled, “Hospital Electronic Health Information Exchange Grew Substantially In 2008–12,” which included survey data from 2,836 hospitals, 53% of hospitals exchanged lab results in 2012. Last week’s survey shows that up to 75% of Corepoint Health customers are exchanging this data. Up to two-thirds of the Corepoint Health survey participants use the integration engine for public health reporting related to Meaningful Use.
