Matchmaker: NIH RePORTER’s Alternative Search

The RePORT (Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools) website provides access to a variety of reporting tools, reports, data, and analyses of NIH research activities. One of the tools available on the RePORT site is the RePORTER (RePORT Expenditures and Results) module. RePORTER is an electronic tool that allows users to search a repository of NIH-funded research projects and access publications and patents resulting from NIH funding. Matchmaker, the new RePORTER query interface, “mines the terms and concepts in your text, compares those patterns to funded projects, and returns a list of 100 similar projects.” The Matchmaker search box provides space for up to 15,000 characters. Search results are accompanied by a display of bar charts for the most common Institutes and Centers, Activity Codes, and Study Sections. Try Matchmaker. View the RePORTER Manual. AISR’s Grants Information Service can help you search for grant funding opportunities and locate campus resources.
