Ban the Feedback Sandwich: Ask, Reinforce, Confirm, Help (ARCH) (Scott Bragg PharmD)

Conclusions: Two sentences that 1) summarize the main findings/interpretation of the study and, 2) provides context by stating main implications of the findings for practice, policy, or research. This presentation is intended to highlight some of the challenges with the traditional feedback sandwich and offer a better method for providing feedback: Ask, Reinforce, Correct, and Help (ARCH). This method entails asking learners to self assess their performance, reinforces positives that the learner identified, corrects any deficiencies with the learner's self assessment, and helps the learner develop their own goals for self improvement. Audience participants will be exposed to a prezi presentation on ARCH and will engage in role playing in small groups with our presenters to learn about how to better structure high quality feedback. The session will conclude with a short discussion reflecting on the benefits of using ARCH. What is the session about?
