L60A Global Health Partnership: UWECFMR and Midwives for Haiti 05/3/16 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM Directors Row 3 Jaime Stringer, MD Assistant Professor of Family Medicine University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Gretchen Adams DO (PGY2); Sakina Sachak MD (PGY2) Eau Claire Family Medicine Residency Global experiences allow medical professionals to demonstrate clinical and diagnostic skills while functioning in resource limited areas, provide compassionate care, and become culturally competent. Seeing a need to broaden our residents' experiences, the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Family Medicine Residency sought to develop a sustainable global health elective. Faculty and residents of residency program who have participated in this experience will discuss the efforts in creating a curriculum for a Global Health initiative in Haiti. By partnering with Midwives for Haiti in Hinche, Haiti, we have streamlined logistics to develop a ongoing global health elective. We will share our successes and challenges in this process and invite other residencies to partner with us in this available elective. (Note: this is an ongoing program and other residency participation is not required to make it sustainable. However, it is developed so that other residencies can participate.)
