Cancer-Associated Thrombosis

Malignancy often leads to a hypercoagulable state. Cancer-associated thrombosis is a major cause for morbidity and mortality in cancer patients. Recent research has led to clinical guidelines relating to thromboprophylaxis and treatment (especially focused on duration of treatment) of thrombotic issues. Alfonso Tafur, MD and his colleagues present a comprehensive review of this disease entity that can affect up to 10% of cancer patients.
