Antidepressant use in second, third trimester increases risk of autism

Use of an antidepressant in the second or third trimester of pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of autism spectrum disorders in the mother's child, a population‐based cohort study has found. This risk was significant when mothers used a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), the researchers reported.
