SELF's March Flick Picks

Since March kicked off with the Academy Awards, it's no wonder we've all got movies on the mind. Fortunately, this month has new releases to suit every craving, from belly-aching comedies to Biblical epics. The Grand Budapest Hotel, in theaters March 7 Why you should see it: With quirky characters, stylized shots and zany intrigue, this seems like pretty much the most Wes Anderson-y film ever. A debonair hotel concierge becomes entangled in a conflict involving a priceless painting and a family fortune after his elderly paramour passes. But like any Anderson flick, the charm comes from the eccentric personalities as much as the plot. Who we love in it: Ralph Fiennes! The cast includes the standard actors who seem to pop up in every Wes Anderson project (Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, etc.), but it's particularly delightful to see the often-serious Fiennes in such a fun role.
