Letter From the Editors

These two issues of the Seminars present an update on some of the established oncologic therapies that we have used for many years as well as presenting state-of-the-art discussions on several newer, innovative techniques. It is of particular interest for these editors, to note that the first clinical use of radionuclides for therapy was more than 70 years ago at our home institution—Montefiore Medical Center. Dr Sam Seidlin, an endocrinologist here in the late 1930s and 1940s was the first to successfully treat a patient with metastatic thyroid cancer with radioiodine.
